Mechanical and Electrical Systems
|
| The mechanical and electrical systems of the project
include rolling stock, power supply, signalling, communication and
Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, automatic
fare collection, platform screen door, elevators and escalators, depot
equipment, and training facilities. |
|
Rolling Stock
|
| The passenger
vehicle will be electric-powered units with stainless steel bodies. Simple but
elegant finishes will help create attractive, air-conditioned interiors with ergonomically
designed seating, with special provision being made for mobility-impaired passengers.
Automated train operation systems will ensure a safe and reliable train service,
passenger information displays and public address systems providing information
to passengers in Mandarin, Taiwanese, and English. |
|
Power Supply System
|
| There will be
three independent bulk supply substations providing electricity to the network.
Supply can be switched from one substation to another in the event of any system
failure to ensure the security of the electrical supply to the trains and stations. |
|
Signalling System
|
| The
signalling system is designed to provide automatic operation of the trains and
of the platform screen doors and to meet the highest standards of safety and reliability. |
|
Communication and SCADA Systems
|
|
The communication
system for the Red and Orange Lines will employ a computer-controlled configuration.
The main trunk communications will utilize an optical fiber circuit using duplicated
transmission paths, which are mutually supportive. All visual, sound, and data
signals will be transmitted using this trunk system and local area networks (LAN).
The communication systems will include public address, radio, closed circuit television,
telephones, e-mail, fax, passenger information displays, centrally controlled
clocks, security sensors, and SCADA systems providing the capability of central
supervisory control and data acquisition of the entire network.
|
|
Automatic Fare Collection System
|
| |
The automatic
fare collection system for the Red and Orange Lines will employ contactless smart
tickets. The equipment for this system will include the central processing system,
station processing systems, automatic ticket issuing machines, automatic gates,
and passenger agent machines. |
|
Platform Screen Door System
|
| At
the 28 underground stations of the Red and Orange Lines, platform screen doors
will be installed to separate the platforms from the track area. These screens
will be robust and reliable; they will also be in harmony with the architectural
design of the stations. |
|
Elevators and Escalators
|
| All stations
of the Red and Orange Lines will have elevators and connecting passageways that
will also enable access by mobility impaired passengers. The designs are aimed
to ensure the safety of passengers at all times and will incorporate control panels
specifically designed for use by handicapped persons, transparent sidewalls, and
surveillance systems that will be constantly monitored by the Passenger Agene
Office. The escalators provided for passengers and staff will be equipped with
a variety of safety features including safety glass below the handrails, and buffer
and alarm functions. |
|
Depot Equipment
|
| A wide range
of equipment will be available at each depot to facilitate the various maintenance
tasks. The Taliao Depot of the Orange Line, which will house the Operations &
Maintenance Training Center, will not only be equipped to undertake routine maintenance,
but also to carry out complete overhauls on the rolling stock of both lines. Routine
maintenance will also be performed at the North and South Depots of the Red Line. |
